Kids Way News Letter
December 2017 Newsletter

December already! Brrrrrr ... it is cold and wet outside!
Licensing requires we have recess twice a day regardless of the weather. Please remember to send your child with a warm coat, hood/hat and appropriate footwear. The children typically do not keep mittens and gloves on, and they often get misplaced. They are allowed but not encouraged, coats with pockets work much better.
Duplicate Coats and Clothing
Please label your child's coat and other outerwear with your child's name. Each year we have duplicates within the classroom. Labeling clothing prevents confusion for both the children and teachers, as well as reduces the chance of the wrong coat being sent home. Thank you!
Elf on the Shelf
Please do not bring your child’s Elf on the Shelf to school. The Elf on the Shelf book says you “can’t touch him,” and the children become confused as to why a home Elf can be touched but the classroom Elf cannot. J
Kids Way Christmas Concert
Kids Way Christmas concert is scheduled for Saturday, December 9th, at 9:00 a.m. in the Highland Elementary School Cafeteria. All Kids Way friends and family are invited to attend. J
Holiday Movie Camp
The week of December 18th through December 22nd, Kids Way will be showing one children's Christmas movie per day.
Holiday Vacation Credits
If you are planning to use vacation credits this holiday season, please drop a note in the tuition box, with your teacher, or email me at with the dates you plan to use so I can update your account.
Kids Way Holiday Schedule
Kids Way closes at 3:00 p.m. on December 22nd in lieu of Christmas Eve; to assist with staffing, we will be placing a sign-up sheet in your child's classroom; this will allow us to determine the number of teachers needed on that day as many families take the day off.
We are closed Dec. 25th in observance of Christmas Day and Jan. 1st in observance of New Year'sDay. The next holiday closure will be Memorial Day in May.
Emergency Closures
Kids Way will remain open on school district snow days as long as the staff is able to safely reach the school. If your child will not be attending, please notify Kids Way. If there is a power outage and Kids Way is required to close, parents will be notified by phone to arrange pick-up of their child. The Department of Early Learning (licensing) does not allow Kids Way to remain open without power. Most power outages last only a few minutes and then power returns. It is only during an extended power outage that Kids Way must close. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
*There is no reduction in tuition for holiday, snow, or emergency closures.

Happy December Birthday!
Colt, Avery, Nicole, Peyton, Frankie, Owen, and Miss Ashley!
